My Journey
Mikey J De Guzman is a recent graduate from the University of Oklahoma in the United States. Currently, Mikey J is looking for an entry-level position or internship within the global media communications, advertising, and marketing industry.
During his college career, Mikey J began his media career planning events and coordinating social media content for Houston-based fashion brand, Jimmy Burner. After his sophomore year, he joined the Disney College Program at the Walt Disney World Flagship Resort, The Grand Floridian. During his time with Disney, he served international public areas and maintained Disney theme and branding, interacting with over 1000+ guests daily.
Following the Disney Program, Mikey J headed to Barcelona to study Global Media Relations at the Blanquerna School of Ramon Llull Universitat. While in Barcelona, Mikey J was an apprentice for Swedish bridal and womenswear designer, Lisa Wixell, and assisted in the production of Adamantium, an exclusive event for stakeholders of Excellent Nutrients during
Spannabis.
During the COVID-19 Pandemic, Mikey J became the Creative Director of Scythe Style, a sustainable image consultancy, working with local models, photographers, make-up artists, and brands in Dallas and Oklahoma City. His work with Scythe Style led to over 10 fashion campaigns with international publications such as Vogue Italia, Anvane, Marika, PUMP, and MOB Journal. His success with Scythe Style garnered the attention of a locally-recognized vintage boutique, Dig It!. During his Dig It! internship, Mikey J managed social media channels (reaching over 8,000+ followers) by creating fashion content and sustained client relations with over 40+ local brands, vendors, and artists.
Following his Dig It! internship, Mikey J worked at Dillard’s Inc. part-time as a Vintage & Luxury Handbag Specialist, working with the What Comes Around, Goes Around, sourcing luxury vintage pieces from Louis Vuitton, Channel, Prada & Fendi for high-priority clients. Simultaneously, Mikey J was an experience consultant for nightlife entertainment brands, Crystal Queer Riots (Dallas, TX) and Haus Lab (Oklahoma City, OKC). As an experience consultant, Mikey J strategized content and influencer marketing to build niche brand loyalty and grow the House music scene of Oklahoma City.
Most recently, Mikey J was a member of the Oklahoma City Pride Alliance marketing committee and aided in the development of the 2022 Love Transcends festivals. As a committee member, he filmed vertical video and managed their TikTok channel and managed a team of 5 photographers to cover all events and programming.
Mikey J earned two B.A.s from the University of Oklahoma in Public and International Relations with a minor in Spanish. Additionally, Mikey J enjoys travel and immersive culture as he is passionate about meeting people and learning new places.
